Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy

Treats Varicosities You Can’t See

If you’re experiencing bulging varicose veins, leg heaviness, swelling, aching, or visible rope-like veins beneath the skin, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy (UGS) may be the precise, minimally invasive solution you need.

At Athens Veins & Aesthetics, treatments are performed in a physician-led medical setting under the supervision of Dr. Malone, ensuring safe, customized care designed to relieve symptoms and improve the appearance of your legs.

“When treated with Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy clinical results have shown patients to have a high vein closure rate five years post treatment with overall improved vein health.”

Dr. Chris Malone

Quicker Recovery, Precise Results

The guided ultrasound allows Dr. Malone to fully map the lower leg veins and to monitor the effects of the foaming medication in damaged veins in real time.

During the procedure, several injections may be made along the vein to ensure complete closure and rerouting of circulation to healthy veins. Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy is performed in our office.

The Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy procedure usually takes approximately 45-60 minutes.

Typically, you should be able to resume normal activities within a few days after the treatment. Most of our patients report a significant improvement in their symptoms within 1-2 weeks after the procedure.

Is UGS Right For You?

Just like with any medical procedure, there are associated risks and complications with UGS. Our vein specialists use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to determine your eligibility for the procedure. Once we have a full assessment, we review your medical history to rule out other conditions that could present any risks.

We’ll also make sure you’re fully informed regarding the potential complications associated with the UGS procedure.

During your initial appointment, our providers will help you determine if a UGS procedure is the right option to correct your advanced varicose veins.
